Clamping flow meter, especially the external clamping ultrasonic flowmeter, the installation method mainly includes the following steps:
Confirm installation conditions and preparations
Check pipe parameters: According to the parameters provided by the manufacturer, quickly input and check the installed pipe diameter, wall thickness, material and other key parameters.
Confirm the installation space:
- Make sure the pipe is far enough from the roof so that the installer can operate it upright.
- The distance from the wall to the side of the pipe should be at least 600mm.
- The distance from the pipe to the ground should be at least 300mm.
Wiring operation
Host part wiring:
- Power cables: Select a 220V AC or 24V DC power supply based on the wiring diagram.
- Sensor wiring: Connect the downstream probe to the 2nd and 3rd terminal of the lower terminal, and the upstream probe to the 5th and 6th terminal.
- 4-20mA current output cable: Connect 4-20mA OUT+ and 4-20mA OUT-.
- 485 Communication cable: Connect 485 OUT A and 485 OUT B.
- Connect the heat meter: If the heat function is required, connect the water supply to TX1, T1, and GND, and connect the return water to TX2, T2, and GND (the return water GND is connected to each other).
- RELAY switch connection: Connect RELAY+ and RELAY-.
- Probe part wiring: the shielded wire is usually not connected, and only +- two terminals are required by default.
Select the installation location and installation probe
Select the installation location:
Select a full pipe section with steady flow, away from the pump and elbow.
The sensor installation point needs a certain straight pipe section. Generally, the upstream distance from the bend and valve is greater than 10D (D is the pipe diameter), the downstream distance from the bend and valve is greater than 5D, and the distance from the pump outlet is greater than 30D.
Select points to avoid interference sources, such as high voltage and frequency converter.
Install probe:
Use an Angle grinder or coarse sandpaper to polish the area where the sensor is to be installed to remove rust, paint or rust protection and expose the metallic nature of the pipe.
Apply enough coupler to the sensor.
The sensor is closely attached to the pipe wall and tied up, and the clamp (stainless steel belt) is used to fix it so that the force is uniform.
Pay attention to the sensor and pipe wall between the air bubble and sand and other dirty things.
Setup and debugging
- Enter the pipe parameters: Enter the exact parameters of the pipe through the flowmeter Settings menu.
- View the installation distance: After entering the required parameters in the menu, view the number displayed in the M25 window, and install the sensor according to this data to ensure that the innermost edge distance between the two sensors is correct.
- Fine-tuning sensor: Observe the signal and transmission time ratio of the flow meter and fine-tune it as needed until the signal reaches its peak and the transmission time ratio is within 100±3%.
- Secure the sensor: Use a clamp to hold the sensor in place to prevent it from moving.
- Sealing treatment: The sensor junction box is filled with coupling agent to improve the protection level of the sensor.
Matters needing attention
- Ensure accurate installation: The installation position and orientation of the sensor must comply with regulations to ensure accurate measurement.
- Avoid interference: The sensor should be far from the source of electromagnetic interference, so as not to affect the measurement accuracy.
- Regular maintenance: Regularly check whether the coupling agent of the sensor is sufficient, and whether the sensor is loose or damaged.
- In addition, according to the different pipe diameter and measurement needs, the installation method of the external clamp ultrasonic flowmeter is also different, mainly including V method, Z method, N method and W method. When selecting the installation mode, select the installation mode according to the actual situation.
In general, the installation of the clamp flowmeter needs to carefully check the parameters, correct wiring, select the appropriate installation position and carry out accurate debugging. Following these steps and precautions can ensure the normal operation and measurement accuracy of the flowmeter.
